The 5th Annual 48 oz. Media Challenge took place at Shula's Steak House Miami Beach to support Cancer Research. The actual challenge is to eat an entire 48 oz. SHULA CUT Porterhouse Steak. The competitors consisted on air Television and Radio personalities (Please let me know if you need the list again), and hosted by "Footy" from 610 AM Radio. The Legendary Coach Don Shula was the official Judge. Sandy Domingo from Mega 94.9 became the first woman to take part in the competition on and she completed the challenge. The first one to finish for the 5th year in a row was Kim Bokamper (ex Dolphin and now Sports Reporter on CVS 4). His strategy was less talking, more eating. Also completing the challenge were John Henry Smith of Local 10 News, and Willard Shepard of NBC 6 News. Leo Vela of Mega 94.9 vowed to come back next year more prepared.

Chef Patrick has won "BEST ENTREE" for the 2007 Chef's Challenge for SFMPI, SFMPI (South Florida Meeting Professionals International) had their 2007 Chef’s Challenge on Monday, May 14 @ Parrot Jungle Island. The Judges included food critics from a number of gourmet dining magazines and newspapers.
There was a team of 10 individuals working with each chef, representing many fine dining establishments throughout South Florida, to create a pre-selected menu (appetizer and entrée) that will be judged by a team of judges. Each Chef advised his or her team to "only oversee" the creation of these dishes.
A Winner was Selected from each of the following three courses:
- Appetizer/Salad
- Entree
- Dessert
